What is a "Dial Around" Service?

A2)  There may be reasons you do not want to change your long distance carrier.  One reason may be is that you have the best possible rate already for a given area you call most frequently, say for example: Out of State Calls.  However using this same service you may not have the best rate for another area, for example: long distance calls within the state.  By using a Dial Around service you can get the best rates for the area you are calling.

If you know that your best rate will be available using a Dial Around service for calls within the state, you would dial an 800 number and then the number you wish to be connected to.

Most of these services will know when you are calling from your own phone or cell phone bill your line.  But if you wished to call from someone else's phone you would dial the 800 number and then enter your account code before dialing the number you wish to reach.   This would be similar to a calling card but usually without the $0.65 connection fee.
