Installing and activating your Packet8 account is designed to be quick and easy. Your Packet8 equipment is shipped to you with a default configuration that allows it to be automatically configured with the required network settings using DHCP. As with any computer or network device, not every environment is the same and may require procedures that differ from the default procedures.

Standard Installation:

The standard installation procedure assumes:

You have a high-speed internet connection (cable/DSL/other)

bullet

A home router or gateway to share your internet connection

bullet

DHCP running on your network (most home routers do this)

 

  1. Install your Packet8 Broadband Phone Adapter

  1. Plug the adapter into your network using a standard Ethernet cable (included)

  2. Plug in the power supply

  3. Plug your telephone into the adapter

OR

Install Your Packet8 VideoPhone

  1. Plug the VideoPhone into your network using a standard ethernet cable (included)

  2. Plug in the power supply

  3. Turn on your VideoPhone using the button on the back

The Telephone Adapter

     

  1. Activate your Packet8 Account
    After completing step 1, you are ready to activate your Packet8 account. You will need your 10-digit activation code. This can be found on your account web page by logging in to your account. Enter the email address and password used to create the account in the account login section to the left.

     

    1. Pick up your telephone handset and dial any phone number

    2. Follow the voice instructions and enter your 10-digit code

    3. If you have entered a valid code, your account will be activated and your Packet8 phone number will be read back to you. This number can also be found on your account web page.

     

  2. Start making calls!

     

    1. ALL calls are dialed the same way- country code+area code+number

    Examples:

    U.S. and Canada country code is "1"
    Dial 1+area code+number

    United Kingdom country code is "44"
    Dial 44+area code+number

    NOTE: You do not need to dial "011" to make international calls
