Their 1010987 program boast a low 3¢ per minute with a 53¢ connect fee.  Having a connect fee means that you are charged 53¢ just to connect the call (even if it's just to leave a message on an answering machine) and then 3 cents a minute after that.

Review Table A and you will see that for a 30 minute call  the effective cost per minute is not 3¢ per minute but 4¢ per minute.  Compare that to CogniState at a True 2.7¢ per minute for state to state calls..

A one time connect fee of $0.53 plus 3¢ per minute divided by the total duration of the call will give you your average cost per minute.

((Total Number of Minutes X .03) + (.53 connect fee) / call duration) = Ave cost/min

As you can see by the results in  Table A , the 1010987 program is more cost effective for the average consumer than 10-10-220. 

However, compare 1010987 to other national programs such as CogniPhone where there is also no monthly fees, and average cost is actually 3.89 cents per minute and you do not have to dial any 10-10 numbers.

You should also compare 10-10-987 to  using a service such as OPEX at just 2.9 cents per minute for any duration of call or Unitel where all calls can be just  1.64¢ per minute in some areas.   Even AT&T can give you a flat rate of just 7 cents per minute for any duration of call.
