Buying Traffic Part 5 of an 8 part guide to driving traffic to your web site
Traffic Systems In general, by using the techniques outlined in this document, you shouldn't have to buy traffic to your web site. You'll already be generating a ton of traffic. However, there are time when you would like an extra boost for an ad campaign you wish to run and would like extra hits.
If you do a quick search on EBay for Web site traffic, you'll easily find several auctions selling web traffic fairly inexpensively. Be aware that some of them demand exclusivity, meaning that you cannot use any other traffic system the same time you are using theirs.
Some of the places you can purchase hits are:
TrafficZap has a program called Traffic Blast. Works great if you need to give your site an instant boost.
Pay Per Click Some search engines actively sell ranking on their sites. Overture is an example of this type of search engine. Overture.com and Enhance.com are examples of these types of sites.
With Pay Per Click systems, you pay each time someone clicks on your keyword or key phrase. Price is set by bidding on your position in the search results. For some keywords this can be very expensive. However, the traffic you receive is extremely targeted, meaning that the traffic that comes to your site is actively looking for your product.
Pay Per Click can work very well for you or it can just result in a budget drain. So use caution. Test your ad campaigns for results prior to committing a large budget to it.
Purchase Links Another tried an true method of buying traffic is to pay a web master to place your banner or link on his site. When Google began using it's page rank system, web masters of high ranking sites began selling links to other sites. Google would rank a web site higher if high ranking site linked to them.
LinkAdage.com is a site that grew out of the Page Rank phenomenon. Its' purpose is to auction one way links from one site to another. Some of these links can go for several hundred dollars. Others can be had for a reasonable price. When bidding, you are not told which exact site you'll be placing your link on. You know the general category, page rank and some traffic details but little else. It can be a fairly effective method of raising your own Google Page Rank.
Conclusion In general, we believe that the best traffic is free traffic. However, when you first start up a website or need an extra boost, purchasing traffic can be an effective method to gain an extra edge.
